“Entrepreneurship rewards those who are impatient in the short term and patient in the long term.”

I grew up with my grandparents. They lived a long and fulfilling life. Hearing stories from their youth, spent in the Indian independence movement, was a childhood ritual. Nothing has shaped me more. The story of how far India has come in 50 years taught me two lessons that have stayed with me: a) life is progress and b) it takes a long  time to make durable progress.

I joined Sequoia by accident. I had no idea about what I was getting into. My first stint with Sequoia left me with more questions than answers. I wondered about what could drive progress in India over the next 50 years. I knew technology could play a role. How big, I couldn’t tell.

In 2015, I moved to the Bay Area and was immediately pulled into the whole Silicon Valley zeitgeist. I learned that technology is the superlative force that will shape the world. I studied the history of many developing countries and visited several of them. On a trip to China, I was awestruck by how rapidly the country had transformed. Soon, I was convinced that technology will play an outsized role in India’s progress. I had my answer.

At Peak XV Partners, there is nothing that gives me more joy than helping founders who are using technology to change India and the world. Nothing is more exciting than dreaming about a better tomorrow, helping build something new, and contributing to an impact that will outlast us. I am in love with what I do.

I am not married to a sector or a problem. I have the curiosity and desire to learn about almost anything. What I care most about is the people I work with. I love working with founders with a deep purpose, one that goes beyond success, wealth, or even legacy. Founders who deeply and unconditionally care about something bigger. Many of those founders are delusional dreamers, insanely ambitious for no impact is enough for them, and they carry a unique vision for the future. Working with such people makes my mind and heart race.

I am fascinated by the idea of helping create enduring companies. The possibility of connecting with founders who think long-term and wouldn’t trade durability for anything keeps me excited about what I do. I want to work with companies whose shares could be handed down to posterity as heir-loom. If you wish to build something for the next few decades, I would love to chat.
