Looking back, I realize my career path started when I drafted my first ‘contract’ in the sixth grade to record the terms of my allowance.

However, my interest in biology almost led to a career in medicine before I finally joined law school. At law school I gravitated to the commercial logic of corporate and contract law, and started working with law firms even before graduation.

After a few years in the frenetic space of private equity investments, buyouts and exits, I shifted over to litigation because I wanted to understand how these extensively-negotiated contracts play out before their key audience – judges and arbitrators. While experiencing the rough and tumble of litigation first-hand, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work on one of India’s most significant shareholder disputes. I found the same human factors and misunderstandings are often behind most disputes, and also how foresight and clarity in documentation can spare the heartburn of litigation.

 It’s super exciting to work with exceptional founders and experts who are charting new territory, in every sense of the word.
