Jaspriya Kaur

I grew up as an only child. From a very young age, my parents made sure that I understood the importance of being financially independent. To instill the habit of saving money, they opened a bank account for me when I was six years old and my first cash deposit was a prize that I had won for a Mental Math quiz – INR 5000! Small in value but huge in learning.

As I grew up, they always involved me in their discussions on our personal finances. This led me to develop an affinity towards numbers, and eventually a career in finance.

The drive to wake up every day to do the work I do while enjoying every bit of it shows just how much finance and I are intertwined as well as best suited for each other. I believe finance is not just a profession, it is a lifestyle I chose.

When I started my career, I worked at a consultancy firm where I found problem-solving exciting. I enjoyed rising to new challenges and finding creative solutions. But, longed for a fast-paced environment. That led me to Sequoia India (now Peak XV) in 2014.

Working alongside forward-looking, ambitious entrepreneurs, exceptional coworkers, partners and industry specialists has been an incredibly humbling and eye-opening experience.
